Professional AJAX is a fantastic book aimed at intermediate to expert-level web developers with
client-side scripting experience. As such, it contains very little information for a beginning developer.
To me, the best part of the book is the chapter on design patterns. Professional AJAX does a
great job of describing different design strategies, and when they are best used. The examples
in this chapter are also extremely helpful! The rest of the book is equally well-written, and
gives a lot of relevant examples for real-world use. As a developer on a website that is just
starting to incorporate AJAX communication, I've found this book to be an invaluable reference.
I have really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely recommend it to any intermediate
to expert developer looking to incorporate AJAX communication into their site.
For a beginning developer wanting to jump into the world of AJAX, I would recommend that they read
a beginner-level book on JavaScript/PHP before reading this book... but make sure you come back
for this one!
